Hong Kong Travel: Living the Modern World Dream

Hong Kong Travel

It was the mid of February this year when our adventure club made the plan of Hong Kong travel in order to have a taste of life in one of the most significant modern and financial centers of the world. Hong Kong is in the southeastern region of China as an independent territory. For years, it has remained under the British control as part of an agreement but since 1997, its national government has run it. Hong Kong is one of the major tourist destinations in the world though it is considered expensive by the expatriates. Our Hong Travel plan was based on our quest to understand Hong Kong’s success story as well as to enjoy its glorious and spectacular life.

Sarajevo, Bosnia: Five Things To Do

Sarajevo, Bosnia town

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital, Sarajevo, is an astonishing city which is located in a valley. The city wears its heart on its sleeve showing its scars on its buildings. This great city is a place where East meets west.

Here are the top 5 things to do in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

Stroll around Old Town:

You can walk over the Latin Bridge towards Bascarsija Square (Pigeon Square). This is the greatest starting point for exploring the Old Town of the city.  The historic Old Town is friendly and amazing, and looks like to one of the best European cities, Krakow.

The Coppersmiths’ Shops:

The Old Town is full of shops where you can purchase beautiful hand pounded copper souvenirs. Notice that not all of the goods are created equal. There are some shops which are known for their high quality souvenirs such as coppersmith Ismet i Ismir’s shop.

Ćevapi:

Ćevapi is one of the most delicious meals you will ever eat. It is a minced meat formed into cylinder sausage shapes. It is served with fresh bread, raw onions and kajmak. Do not leave Bosnia & Herzegovina without trying this local dish.
It is also cheap; you’ll get all this deliciousness for just a few dollars.

Local brews:

There is one of the largest beer halls in the whole Europe there in Pivnica HS. You can sample some local freshly brewed beers. The location of Pivnica HS is just a block outside Old Town and next door to Sarajevskaya Brewery.

Find out more about the Region’s History:

The history of the recent war is still alive on the building of the city. The Complete Sarajevo War Tour with Toorico Tours will teach you a lot about the history of the city and the war. The tour starts at the Tunnel Museum where you will be able to explore the tunnel that provided Sarajevo with food, arms and other supplies during the three year siege. After that, the tour goes to the mountains surrounding the city.

You should go only with tours because the area is still full of land mines. The tour includes Igman Mountain where you can see the Olympic ski jumping hills and walk through the remnants of what once was the most luxurious hotel in the mountains which was burned down during the war. You will also see the snipers’ nests and the Old Jewish Cemetery which is another stronghold for Serbian snipers during the war.

The tour guides are usually friendly and full of information. There are some guides who have personal stories and experiences during the siege and those make the experience great.
